It's almost break time for our Shawnee athletes! The OSSAA dead period is June 30-July 7. All SPS athletic facilities will be closed during this time.
Our coaches and sponsors will not have any contact with SMS and SHS students in any athletic activity governed by the OSSAA for the purpose of coaching, training, or instructing during the dead period. Enjoy your break, Wolves!
SPS families, an important event is happening tomorrow: Primary Election Day. On Tuesday, June 18, registered voters will have the opportunity to participate in elections that will impact our community. Use the OK Voter Portal (okvoterportal.okelections.us) to find polling locations and review sample ballots. Thanks to Gordon Cooper Technology Center construction and masonry trade students, all Shawnee Public Schools 5th grade classrooms received monster inch fraction boards. Great news! Power has been restored at Sequoyah Elementary. Thank you for your patience.
Sequoyah Elementary will be beginning the school day without electricity. Our administrative team has been in communication with OG&E, and we are confident that power will be restored soon. Breakfast will be served this morning, and we will continue the school day as normal as possible.
Out of an abundance of caution due to potential severe weather, the Shawnee Board of Education plans to meet briefly tonight as scheduled. However, the board will not take any action at tonight's meeting other than to vote to reconvene to a future date and time. The board will announce the date and time of this reconvening at tonight's meeting. Shawnee Public Schools will keep you informed of the new date and time of the reconvening.
Due to potential severe weather conditions in tonight’s forecast, SPS Kids Afterschool program and the Native American Student Awards Ceremony are canceled today, Monday, May 6, 2024.

Shawnee Police officials have advised that Will Rogers Elementary no longer needs to follow soft lockdown procedures. We will continue our after-school program as normal. There will be an enhanced police presence during today's pickup out of an abundance of caution.

Due to an incident in a nearby neighborhood, SPS is acting out of an abundance of caution and holding some buses at Shawnee Middle School, and Will Rogers Elementary after-school program is on a soft lockdown. We will keep you updated.
Juniors will be completing the ACT and CCRA tests this Thursday and Friday. All other students will be virtual learning Thursday and Friday. This schedule only applies for Shawnee High School. Students will access their work through Canvas and may reach out to teachers through email with questions. Juniors will report to campus in person at regular school start time. Please make sure your student is on time for testing Thursday and Friday.
