Through challenging classes, diverse extracurriculars, and countless community service opportunities, Shawnee has shaped me into the strong, confident leader I am today. From competing in varsity sports to taking on leadership roles and engaging in volunteer work, each experience has taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and resilience. But more importantly, I’ve learned that true success isn’t just about personal achievements—it’s about lifting each other up and making a positive impact on our community. Justin Dunn, a proud SPS parent and husband of a Shawnee teacher, shares why public education matters to him: "I was educated in public schools and am currently the parent of two public School students and the husband of a public school employee. Personally, public education was the avenue for my learning. I learned to relate to other people and I gained a foundation for my academic and vocational pursuits that I would not have otherwise received. As a parent, my children are learning to relate to others from a variety of backgrounds. They are learning to learn. We are able to be partners with the school in their education and development. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience. As a citizen, I think public education is the jewel of our community and our country. It provides opportunities for everyone. It provides a community with something to rally around and support and take authentic pride in. Students, regardless of background, socioeconomic situation, or anything else are able to learn and have the opportunity to thrive. The fact that I can be a part of that for my kids and all the kids in my community is awesome. Public education is not perfect, but people every day are giving their best efforts to see that every student can be at their best and have the opportunity to thrive in whatever they do. No matter who they are or where they have come from, EVERYONE GETS THE OPPORTUNITY."

Our Shawnee Wolves battled hard at the 5A East Regionals, securing 4 state qualifiers! We faced tough competition, pulled off some big wins, and had a few tough breaks, but our boys finished 8th overall in the region! State Qualifiers: Booker Dahlman– 4th Blayne Taber– 4th Kade Carter– 2nd Logan Skelton– 2nd Next up ➡️ State Tournament this week! Let’s go, Wolves!

What a celebration for Basketball Senior Night this past Friday evening, honoring eight incredible seniors for their dedication to Wolves basketball! 💙🤍 Recognized were Deetrick Beavers, Daytain Patton, Isaiah Smith, and Carter Whipkey for the Wolves, Serenity Casteel, Allyson McAlister, and Josie Megehee for the Lady Wolves, and manager Aniyla Thomas. Special recognition went to Josie Megehee for 2,000 career points, and Daytain Patton for 1,000-point milestone, each receiving a plaque from their coaches. 👏🏀 The celebration continued with big wins on the court—the Lady Wolves dominated 59-3, and the Wolves battled to a 48-42 victory. A night full of milestones, memories, and Wolves pride—congrats to our seniors!
