Hello, Seniors! Are you ready for it? Your senior conference "In My Graduation Era" will take place next Friday, November 3rd from 8:45 AM to 2:05 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church (1451 E. 45th Street). This conference is intended to help you gear up for your next steps after high school. There is an excellent group of presenters, panelists, and college and career booths excited to share great information with you about the transition from high school to adulthood. As a reminder, ALL seniors are required to attend the conference. This includes ALL seniors enrolled at Shawnee High School, Jim Thorpe Academy, and SHS Virtual School. · Gordon Cooper students – you are expected to attend. We will notify Gordon Cooper of this required school activity; it will not hurt your attendance. · Internship students – you are expected to attend. Communicate with your site supervisor and let them know you will be out that day. · Concurrent students – you are expected to attend if…you do not have an on-campus class during the conference. If you do have a class, we recommend you communicate with your professor(s) ahead of time and arrange to attend the conference. This conference counts as a regular school day. If you do not attend, you will receive an unverified absence that will count against test exemptions and OSSAA attendance rules. Football players will not be able to play in the game that night if they do not attend the conference. There will be no senior classes scheduled at school, as your teachers will be at the conference with you. For those of you capable of driving yourself, please park in one of the south parking lots. The front parking lot is reserved for our presenters. Refer to the attached picture to see which lots are available to students. Once you park, please make your way to the main entrance to check into the conference. If you don't drive, you can catch a ride with a friend or have a parent drop you off. For students who indicated they need bus transportation to the church, further information will be sent out next week. Lunch will be provided. You will also be given a conference t-shirt when you arrive. You are expected to wear it while at the conference. You will be able to choose sessions that are of interest to you and your future plans. Seating is limited, so sessions will be first come, first serve. *Check your student email for session descriptions!
