Two women with man in capitol

Shawnee High School student Kiley Sartin recently participated in the prestigious Page Program at the Oklahoma State Capitol, gaining firsthand experience with state government and the legislative process.

Kiley served as a page for Representative Danny Sterling of Tecumseh during a recent session, assisting with day-to-day tasks on the House floor and engaging in a behind-the-scenes look at how state laws are made. The opportunity was made possible thanks to a nomination by Representative Nicole Miller.

The Oklahoma House of Representatives Page Program provides high school students from across the state with an immersive, week-long experience in state government. Pages assist lawmakers, participate in mock sessions, and gain a deeper understanding of public service and leadership.

“This kind of opportunity helps our students see the impact they can have and inspires them to think big about their futures,” said Kaylee Wilburn, Shawnee High School Counselor.
