group of high school student athletes

In a heartwarming display of generosity, athletes from Northwest Missouri State University have donated nine full boxes of cleats and shoes to Shawnee Public Schools (SPS) as part of a cleat and shoe drive. This initiative was spearheaded by Coach Matt Wendelberger, the new Strength and Conditioning Coach at SPS, who recently joined the SPS family from Northwest Missouri State University.

Coach Wendelberger, affectionately known as Coach W, was inspired to start the drive after noticing that several students at SPS were working out in worn-out cleats. Drawing on his connections with athletes at his former university, Coach W was able to organize the collection of much-needed footwear.

Athletic Director Dax Leone expressed his deep gratitude for Coach Wendelberger's dedication and initiative, stating, "We are incredibly fortunate to have coaches like Coach W who go above and beyond to ensure that our athletes have the best possible opportunities to succeed. His commitment to the well-being of our students is truly commendable."

Shawnee Public Schools extends its heartfelt thanks to the athletes at Northwest Missouri State University for their generosity and to Coach Wendelberger for his continued dedication to the success and well-being of SPS students.
