Shawnee Public Schools is excited to announce the launch of a new student ID system aimed at enhancing safety and providing real-time tracking for elementary students who ride district buses.
Upon return from spring break, elementary students began using secure ID cards to scan on and off when they board and exit the bus. The software, Tyler Drive from Tyler Technologies, is a cutting-edge system that ensures that parents and guardians have instant access to their child’s bus activity through the My Ride K-12 app. With the app, families can see exactly when and where their child scans onto and off of the bus, providing peace of mind and up-to-the-minute information.
“This new system represents a significant step forward in student safety and communication with parents,” said John Wiles, Director of Transportation. “By giving families real-time updates, we are making student transportation safer, more transparent, and more efficient.”
The initiative strengthens district-wide safety measures by ensuring that each student's journey is accurately recorded and easily accessible. In addition to improving security, it also assists transportation staff in monitoring bus routes and ensuring that students are where they need to be throughout the day.
Parents can download the My Ride K-12 app through their mobile device’s app store. Once registered, they will have immediate access to their child’s bus scan times and locations.
Shawnee Public Schools is committed to continuing to find innovative ways to support the safety and success of all students.
