Shawnee students have a long tradition of success in athletics and fine arts. Besides our Shawnee High School Girls Swim Team's recent back-to-back state championships for 2022 and 2023, Shawnee has a number of accomplishments:

• 40 state championships;

• 55 state final appearances;

• 2 national baseball championships; and

• 11 academic state championships.

Each year, a number of Shawnee High School seniors sign letters of commitment to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. A few have even gone on to play professionally. In fact, two SHS alums are now proud owners of Super Bowl rings.

Dax Leone has been the director of athletics and activities for Shawnee Public Schools since 2022. He has more than 20 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Coach Leone has experience in recruiting, fundraising, scheduling, marketing, academic supervision, scholarship management, camp organization and a variety of other arenas.  As an SHS graduate and community member, Coach Leone has a deep connection with the Shawnee community and builds partnership with community stakeholders to continually move the Wolves Athletic Department forward.

Julia Holland has served as the assistant director of athletics and activities for Shawnee Public Schools since 2022. Coach Holland is a graduate of SHS and taught for 12 years for Shawnee Public Schools prior to taking her current position. She has 15 years of coaching experience and is deeply engaged with the Shawnee community. Coach Holland is passionate about creating programs of excellence for the students of Shawnee Public Schools.
