Shawnee High School added another notable coach to its athletic leadership roster Tuesday when the Shawnee Board of Education approved the hiring of Christopher “Bryce” Clemons to lead its softball program.

“Bryce Clemons is a huge hire for our softball program and, most importantly, our girls,” said Shawnee Athletic Director Dax Leone. “Coach Clemons has a proven track record of winning at a high level and developing players.”

“His leadership qualities and his ability to create an atmosphere of confidence is something that our girls deserve,” Leone added. “This is one of those hires that will make an impact immediately on the field and in the classroom.”

Clemons comes to SHS with several years of softball and baseball coaching experience. Since 2019, Clemons has been an assistant coach with Dale High School’s softball program, helping lead the Lady Pirates to an impressive two state runners up in slow pitch, one runner up in fastpitch, and a state championship each in slow pitch and fastpitch. Prior to his years at Dale, he served as an assistant coach at Jones High School and helped lead the Jones baseball team to its 2017 3A baseball state championship.

Clemons will begin his tenure as Shawnee High School’s softball head coach in the 2024-2025 school year. He and his wife Jessica have a daughter and son.
