Shawnee Families,
Due to the dangerously cold temperatures and sub-zero wind chills in the forecast, as well as potentially hazardous conditions on neighborhood roads and in parking lots, I have reached the decision to cancel classes and have a traditional snow day on Tuesday, January 16.
Students will not need to complete any online work on Tuesday.
Evening activities scheduled for January 16, including basketball games and spring homecoming ceremonies, will be rescheduled. Homecoming will be January 25 at the wrestling match vs. Noble. The time and location of the match will be announced soon.
Canceling classes is never an easy decision, but the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Several factors were considered when making the decision to cancel classes, including a water main break near Jefferson Elementary and the sub-zero temperatures our students who walk to school and bus stops would experience. Thank you for your understanding as we act with safety in mind. Stay safe and warm.
