Earlier this month, Shawnee High School pom competed at the state championship for the first time in many years. Two members of the squad were awarded a special honor for their prowess in the classroom. 

Junior Mia Bryant and Freshman Abigail Clement were awarded Academic All-State honors. Coach Lydia Johnson explained that in order to receive the award, the student must have carried an unweighted, cumulative 4.0 grade point average for the entire previous school year. 

Mia Bryant is the co-captain of the 2023-24 squad. She has been a pom member for three years and danced competitively for 14 years. Bryant believes English is her best subject and hopes to attend college to major in business and open her own dance studio. She is involved in National Honor Society. 

Abigail Clement is a first year pom member who has nine years of competitive dance experience. Clement is an excellent math student and is working toward an opportunity to play basketball in college. She is involved in basketball, softball, golf, gifted and talented, student council, and FCA.
