Shawnee High School honored its senior basketball players on Friday, February 14, during a special Senior Night celebration. The event recognized the dedication and achievements of eight seniors from the Lady Wolves and Wolves basketball teams.
The seniors honored included:
Wolves: Deetrick Beavers, Daytain Patton, Isaiah Smith, and Carter Whipkey
Lady Wolves: Serenity Casteel, Allyson McAlister, and Josie Megehee
Manager: Aniyla Thomas
In addition to the Senior Night recognition, two players reached significant career milestones. Josie Megehee was honored for scoring 2,000 career points and was presented with a commemorative plaque by Coach Wendi Wells. Daytain Patton was recognized for reaching 1,000 career points, receiving a plaque from Coach Eric Litherland in recognition of his accomplishment.
Both teams capped off the evening with strong performances on the court. The Lady Wolves dominated with an impressive 59-3 victory over Nathan Hale, while the Wolves secured a hard-fought 48-42 win.
Senior Night served as a memorable evening for the players, their families, and the Shawnee community, celebrating the hard work and dedication of these student-athletes throughout their high school careers.
