The Shawnee High School Pom team shined at the Oklahoma State Dance Team Directors Association (OSDTDA) competition, earning third place in the highly competitive 5A Mix category. The "Mix" category combines the styles of Pom, Kick, Jazz, and Hip-Hop into a single routine, requiring teams to demonstrate versatility, technical skill, and stage presence.

“It’s been years since SHS has competed at OSDTDA and landed in the top 3, so we are really proud of this accomplishment!” said Lydia Johnson, Shawnee Pom Coach. “Our team worked incredibly hard to perform a well-rounded routine, and their dedication truly showed on the floor.”

In addition to the team’s success, several individual members represented Shawnee with excellence:

  • Senior Soloists: Mia Bryant, Katy Brock, and Adyson Farris competed on Friday night alongside hundreds of other talented soloists.

  • Intermediate Soloist: Abigail Clements also took the floor, showcasing her skill and artistry.

Two members of the team, Mia Bryant and Abigail Clements, were honored for their academic achievements by being named to the Academic All-State Team, an award recognizing students with a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.

Additionally, Katy Brock, Adyson Farris, Alivia Snow, and Mary Beth King received the Academic Excellence Awards for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5–3.99.

“Our soloists performed beautifully, and the academic achievements of these young women are a testament to their hard work and dedication both on and off the dance floor,” said Johnson.
