Thanks to the overwhelming support of the Shawnee community in voting YES for the Future of Shawnee Public Schools bond, the “Pride of the Pack” marching band was able to take the field this season in style and with enhanced resources. The bond has provided brand-new uniforms, instrument updates, and expanded storage space, all of which have significantly improved the band’s performance experience.
Senior band student Emelia Bronson expressed her gratitude for the new uniforms, which have restored a sense of unity and school pride after last year’s challenges.
“I want to thank the community for voting yes on the bond because we were able to get new marching uniforms. After the tornado, we had to wear our show shirts, and they weren’t the color of Shawnee. With our new uniforms, we look very sleek when we go out onto the field and we look like a team,” she said.
In addition to the uniforms, the upgraded storage space has also made a tremendous impact on the band’s daily routine. Senior band student Evelyn Minor shared how the improvements have increased efficiency during practices, “I’ve been able to see firsthand how the new storage space helped cut down on our time that we would have had to use to push back and forth to the band room every day. It has given us more rehearsal time and has made everything more convenient.”
Both students joined together in saying “Thank you for voting YES for the future of Shawnee Public Schools.”
These enhancements have not only elevated the band’s performance but also strengthened the school’s ability to foster student success in music and the arts. Shawnee Public Schools district thanks the community for their continued dedication to creating opportunities for students to shine.
