Two men infront of vehicle and school bus

Shawnee Public Schools participated in First United Bank's EV Car Show over the weekend, an event dedicated to promoting eco-friendly transportation alternatives. The SPS Transportation Department proudly showcased two of the district’s electric school buses (ESBs) as part of the district’s clean energy initiative, and attendees were invited to experience firsthand the quiet, smooth ride these vehicles offer.

The EV Car Show featured a range of green electric vehicles, including six Tesla Cybertrucks that drew considerable excitement. SPS highlighted the district’s dedication to sustainable practices, specifically focusing on the benefits of electric school buses.  John Wiles, Director of Transportation for Shawnee Public Schools, attended the event to answer questions and discuss the district’s vision for sustainable student transportation.

The SPS Transportation Department was thrilled to participate in this community event, helping to raise awareness of the environmental and operational benefits of electric school buses. Shawnee Public Schools looks forward to more opportunities to engage with the community and support sustainable innovations in education and beyond.
