April 19, 2024

Dear Shawnee Families,

Today, as we mark one year since the devastating tornado that impacted our schools and entire community, I want to take a moment to reflect on our journey from that day to where we stand now. This anniversary is not just a reminder of what we've lost, but also a celebration of how we've transformed adversity into an opportunity to rebuild stronger than before.

In the face of such devastation last April 19, 2023, it would have been easy to lose hope, but Shawnee has shown the true meaning of resilience. Together, we are turning devastation into opportunity. This past year, we made a commitment to not only restore what was lost but also act with a long-term vision. Our focus to enhance our community and school district has been unwavering. We are honoring our commitment to build back with a vision for the future, ensuring that our actions today will create a better tomorrow for all of our students.

This community is the epitome of Shawnee Strong. Each of you, through your support and determination, has played a vital part in our recovery and rebuilding efforts. Your strength has been our foundation, and your belief in our vision has allowed us to move forward.

As we continue to rebuild, we keep our vision clear: Honoring Your Choice. We strive to provide educational choices that meet the individual needs and aspirations of all our students, turning challenges into stepping stones for success.

As we remember the events of one year ago, let us also look to the future with hope and determination. Together, we can ensure that our district is defined not by the challenges of the past, but by the possibilities of the future.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our community and schools. Let us move forward, together, as a beacon of innovation and community strength. Together, we are Shawnee Strong!

Sincerely,

Dr. Aaron Espolt

Superintendent
