Eleven seniors representing the top 5% of the Shawnee High School Class of 2024 received their Academic Letter Jackets from Arvest Bank during a halftime presentation at Thursday’s SHS football game.

Arvest Market President of Shawnee Tyler Wilburn, along with Arvest Senior Vice President Jill Rawls and Business Banker David Dinsmore, joined the jacket recipients on the football field. This year’s recipients are the 39th SHS group to receive this honor.

“We appreciate the importance of academic excellence and the hard work required of the students, as well as the support from parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors and the administration,” Wilburn said. “This event allows Arvest Bank, as well as the entire community, to recognize the achievements of these outstanding students.”

Also congratulating the group of seniors on the field were Dr. Aaron Espolt, superintendent of Shawnee Public Schools; Dr. Teresa Wilkerson, SPS assistant superintendent;  Bobby Canty, Shawnee Board of Education member; and Matt Johnson, SHS principal.

Academic letter jackets recipients are as follows:

Gregorio Arzola is the son of Maria Del Carmen Balvaneda and Gregorio Arzola. His future plans include pursuing jobs that enable him to use his bilingual certification.

Marilyn Bartley is the daughter of Scott and Cindy Bartley. Her future plans include attending the University of Oklahoma.

Michael Batley is the son of Michael Batley, Sr., and Adella Hernandez. His future plans include earning his bachelor's degree and then beginning medical school to become a psychiatrist. 

Dalton Bishop is the son of Carl and Diana Bishop. His future plans include working hard and making money.

Reid Bowlan is the son of Susan and Brent Bowlan. His future plans include attending college to become a physical therapy assistant.

Zion Hibben is the son of Thomas and Samantha Hibben. His future plans include attending Oklahoma City University to major in film and religious studies. 

Bella Koepke is the daughter of Andrea and Will Koepke. Her future plans include furthering her education at East Central University and becoming a real estate agent.  

Ryanne Northam is the daughter of Carl Northam and Stephanie Ash. Her future plans include working as an English teacher after college.

Emma Oller is the daughter of Bruce and Jodie Oller. Her future plans include attending the University of Tulsa to double major in piano performance and biochemistry in preparation for Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She hopes to become a large animal vet.

Sarah Peters is the daughter of Ben and Tia Peters. Her future plans include attending Brigham Young University and majoring in elementary education.

Clara Timmons is the daughter of Scott and Rebecca Timmons. Her future plans include attending Oklahoma State University and becoming a park ranger for the National Park Service.
