Shawnee Adult Learning Center

A high school diploma is within reach for learners ages 16* and up at the Shawnee Adult Learning Center.

SALC offers students training in the skills necessary to pass one of the high school equivalency exams, either the GED or HiSET. The only financial cost to students is the cost of taking one of the equivalency exams.

SALC currently has a minimum of one enrollment session scheduled each month. During enrollment, students are pre-tested with the appropriate level of TABE (Tests of Adult Basic Education) Tests in reading, mathematics (computation and applied), and language.

  • Classes at SALC are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes also have a maximum number of seats available.

  • All teachers at SALC are certified by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

  • SALC follows the Shawnee Public Schools academic calendar.

  • To sign up for classes, contact the Shawnee Adult Learning Center office at (405) 878-3101 or email Shawnee Adult Learning Center

*Students ages 16 and 17 must have a release form from the school district in which they live in order to enroll at SALC. More information about students under the age of 18 wishing to enroll in classes at SALC is available by calling (405) 878-3101 or emailing salc@shawnee.k12.ok.us. Release forms for those living in the Shawnee Public Schools district are available by contacting Debra Watson, director of alternative education.
