Communication

We at Shawnee Public Schools know that strong relationships are built on strong communication. Our communication staff is committed to keeping our families, students, staff and community informed about our schools. We use a variety of communication platforms so that all people in our school community can find the information they need and can connect with the person necessary whenever a question or concern arises.

Stay Informed

Parents, your student's teacher or building principal is usually the first person to contact whenever you need to speak directly to someone. Using the Staff tab in the menu of our website or app will connect you directly with the person you need.

Our teachers may also utilize the following board approved platforms to keep parents informed on school and classroom events:

  • Activation Station

  • Apptegy Rooms

  • Band App

  • Biblionasium

  • Brightspace

  • Canvas (Middle School/High School)

  • Edgenuity

  • MySSCOK

  • Noodletools

  • school e-mail

  • SPS Google G-suite

A student's current grades and absence information are available in PowerSchool.

Our district uses a communications platform that can send emails, newsletters, phone calls, and text messages to our families. We also use the electronic flyer platform Peachjar to email information about some school and community events. If you are a parent and are not receiving these various communications, please contact your student's school site to make sure your contact information is up to date.

Our school district and our school sites are active on several social media platforms. We use social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to announce events, share student and staff achievements, and keep our community informed. You may find links to our social media platforms at the bottom of our school and district websites. Messages from our families and community members may not be seen in a timely manner on social media. We encourage questions or concerns be sent directly to a student's teacher or building principal rather than through social media.
